Humayun Kabir, a prominent political figure in West Bengal, has declared his intention to withdraw from politics as a means of protesting alleged irregularities in the Rejinagar bypoll. In statements to the media, Kabir expressed his dismay at what he described as systematic disenfranchisement during the electoral process.

According to Kabir, residents of Rejinagar were prevented from exercising their democratic right to vote. He questioned the purpose of continuing in politics if unable to challenge such injustices, describing his decision as a matter of principle and integrity.

The veteran politician indicated that he plans to formally communicate his decision to supporters following the Durga Puja festival. During this meeting, Kabir stated his intention to apologise to constituents for his inability to prevent the alleged electoral malpractices.

The announcement reflects mounting concerns over electoral conduct in the region and adds to ongoing political tensions surrounding the bypoll. Kabir's stance has reignited debates about the integrity of electoral processes and the mechanisms available to address voter grievances in state elections.
