Kunal Ghosh, a Trinamool Congress MLA, reported that his car was pursued by masked men while he was travelling to attend a political program in his constituency on Wednesday. The alleged chase represents the second such incident targeting the legislator within a single day, according to his camp.
Ghosh characterised the incident as an attempt on his life, expressing concern over the escalating nature of the attacks. He stated that the assailants were unidentified and operating with apparent coordination, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
The MLA's allegations come amid heightened political tensions in West Bengal. The Trinamool Congress, which governs the state, has previously reported incidents involving its members and supporters, while opposition parties have made counter-allegations regarding political violence.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the reported incidents. Local law enforcement is expected to conduct an investigation into the allegations made by the TMC legislator.
