Bengaluru Metro commissions first locally-assembled train on Green Line

The Bengaluru Metro has formally inducted the first train produced through a collaboration between Titagarh Wagons and CRRC (China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation) onto the Green Line corridor. The induction represents a key achievement for the metro operator as it seeks to expand its rolling stock and enhance service frequency on the rapidly-growing network.

The Titagarh-CRRC partnership, established to manufacture metro coaches domestically, has delivered the train as part of a larger procurement order for Bengaluru Metro. The new rolling stock is designed to meet the operational requirements of the Green Line, which has emerged as one of the metro system's busier corridors in recent months.

The commissioning comes as Bengaluru Metro continues phased expansion of its network across the city. The induction of additional trains is expected to enable increased service frequency during peak hours and improve passenger capacity on the Green Line, which connects key zones across the city's expanding IT and commercial districts.

Titagarh Wagons, a leading Indian rail manufacturing company, partnered with CRRC to establish production facilities capable of assembling metro-standard coaches. The collaboration represents a broader effort to reduce India's dependence on overseas manufacturers for public transport infrastructure while building domestic expertise in advanced rail vehicle assembly.
