Bengaluru police bust car fraud ring; 10 vehicles seized

The racket came to light following a complaint filed by a resident of Umar Nagar at Wilson Garden police station, who alleged he had been defrauded in a car transaction. Upon investigation, authorities discovered an elaborate operation involving the creation and sale of vehicles using counterfeit documentation.

The accused employed multiple methods to facilitate the illegal sales, including fabricated registration certificates, forged bank no-objection certificates, and counterfeit official seals. These fraudulent documents were used to legitimise the sale of vehicles to unsuspecting buyers who believed they were purchasing legitimately registered automobiles.

The seizure of ten vehicles valued at approximately ₹2 crore represents a significant blow to the operation. Police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation to identify all individuals involved in the scheme and trace additional vehicles that may have been sold through similar fraudulent means.

The case highlights growing concerns over document forgery networks operating in metropolitan areas and underscores the importance of buyers conducting thorough verification of vehicle documentation before completing transactions. Authorities have urged vehicle purchasers to cross-check all documents with relevant government departments before finalising deals.
