Marzuki Mohamad, who previously served as an aide to Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, has questioned whether Bersatu's secretary-general possesses the authority to issue a show-cause letter, citing potential quorum deficiencies within the party's Supreme Council.
Marzuki argued that the PN secretary-general must first seek clarification from the Registrar of Societies regarding claims that the party's Supreme Council lacks the required quorum to conduct official meetings and issue formal disciplinary notices.
The challenge underscores ongoing internal disputes within Bersatu regarding the validity of party proceedings and the legitimacy of actions taken by party leadership. The issue of Supreme Council quorum has emerged as a contentious matter affecting the party's ability to exercise disciplinary powers over its members.
The clarification from the RoS would be essential to establish whether any show-cause letters issued by party officials carry legal weight and comply with the party's constitutional requirements, Marzuki suggested.
This development reflects broader tensions within Perikatan Nasional as the coalition navigates internal governance challenges.
