Bersatu rejects calls to strip MPs of status over CSA signatures
Bersatu's communications chief has defended party members who signed a cooperation agreement with the government, saying they acted on party orders rather than defying leadership.

Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, Bersatu's information chief, has rejected suggestions that parliamentarians who signed the Comprehensive Strategic Alliance (CSA) with the government should face disciplinary action or lose their membership status.
Faisal drew a distinction between two groups of party members who have faced scrutiny in recent times. He explained that those dismissed from the party in 2024 were removed for breaching party directives, whereas those who signed the CSA did so under explicit party instructions.
"Members who signed the CSA acted in accordance with party leadership's decision," Faisal said, underlining that such actions should not be grounds for stripping them of their parliamentary positions or party status.
The clarification comes amid ongoing discussions within Bersatu regarding party discipline and the handling of members following significant political developments. Faisal's statement aims to provide clarity on the party's position regarding different categories of member conduct and the rationale behind varying disciplinary outcomes.
