BFAR releases 100,000 tilapia fry to boost Ilocos fish output

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Ilocos distributed 100,000 tilapia fry to fisherfolk throughout the region on Wednesday during the 70th Fishery Industry Forum held at the Dingras Civic Center in Ilocos Norte.

The fingerling distribution initiative targeted fishing communities across the Ilocos region and formed a key component of the forum's broader agenda to strengthen aquaculture productivity in the area.

Official activities at the forum centered on strategies to boost fish production while providing direct support to local fishing families. The tilapia fry distribution represents one of BFAR's concrete efforts to enhance food security and economic opportunities within the sector.
