BGB repels BSF attempt to push migrants across Birampur border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel thwarted an attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push nine people across the international border at Birampur on Wednesday. Following the confrontation, BGB forces successfully returned three individuals to the Indian side, sources confirmed.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours when BSF personnel approached the border fence with the group of nine, prompting BGB troops to intervene immediately. BGB officials stated that their personnel moved swiftly to prevent the unauthorized crossing and engage with their Indian counterparts regarding the matter.

After negotiations between the two border forces, three of the nine individuals were sent back across the border to India. The status and destination of the remaining six individuals were not immediately disclosed by BGB authorities.

Incidents involving attempts to push migrants or undocumented persons across the Bangladesh-India border occur periodically, creating friction between the neighboring nations. Border officials on both sides maintain protocols for handling such situations, though the underlying causes of irregular cross-border movement remain a persistent challenge in the region.
