BGB strengthens border security with high-tech drone and thermal surveillance systems

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has initiated deployment of modern surveillance drones and thermal detection devices at key border points to bolster security operations. Officials stated that the new equipment will provide real-time monitoring and improved detection capabilities across Bangladesh's extensive land and maritime borders.

The thermal imaging technology enables personnel to track movement during low-visibility conditions, including nighttime operations when smuggling activities are often concentrated. The unmanned aerial vehicles offer extended surveillance range and can access difficult terrain, providing comprehensive coverage of remote border areas where conventional patrols face operational constraints.

Border security officials indicated the initiative responds to evolving threats including human trafficking, narcotics smuggling, and illegal arms trafficking. The advanced systems are expected to reduce response times to security incidents and improve coordination between border posts.

The deployment reflects ongoing efforts by BGB to modernize its operational capacity in line with contemporary security challenges. Training programs have been implemented to ensure personnel can effectively operate and maintain the new technological systems across various border zones.
