Bharat Biotech's Nucelion Partners with VeGen Bio on CAR-T Therapy

Nucelion, the manufacturing and technology arm of Bharat Biotech, has partnered with biopharmaceutical company VeGen Bio to develop and commercialise an advanced cancer therapy. Under the agreement, Nucelion will assume responsibility for technology transfer, clinical-stage manufacturing, and commercial-scale production of VeGen Bio's lead candidate, VL-2511, a CAR-T cell therapy designed to treat multiple myeloma.

CAR-T cell therapies represent a cutting-edge approach to cancer treatment, involving the genetic modification of a patient's immune cells to recognise and attack cancer cells. Multiple myeloma, a blood cancer affecting plasma cells in bone marrow, represents a significant unmet medical need, particularly in markets across South and Southeast Asia where cancer incidence continues to rise.

The partnership underscores India's growing role as a manufacturing hub for advanced therapeutics. By combining VeGen Bio's research capabilities with Nucelion's established infrastructure and regulatory expertise, the collaboration aims to accelerate the development pathway for VL-2511 while positioning the therapy for broader market access.

Bharat Biotech has progressively expanded its footprint in biologics and cell therapies in recent years, with Nucelion serving as the group's dedicated platform for contract manufacturing and technology partnerships. The VeGen Bio collaboration represents a strategic move to strengthen the company's presence in the high-growth immunotherapy segment.
