BHEL, Titagarh Rail form equal JV for Vande Bharat sleeper maintenance

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Titagarh Rail Systems have entered into an equal partnership to undertake maintenance and servicing of Vande Bharat sleeper train coaches. Under the arrangement, both companies will hold 50 per cent equity stakes in the newly formed joint venture entity.

The partnership is structured to provide comprehensive maintenance support for Vande Bharat sleeper trains over a 35-year operational period. This extended timeline ensures consistent technical oversight and upkeep of the modern train sets throughout their service life.

The joint venture combines BHEL's extensive experience in heavy electrical engineering and railway systems with Titagarh Rail Systems' expertise in rail manufacturing and coach maintenance. The collaboration aims to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the Vande Bharat sleeper fleet, which forms a key component of Indian Railways' modernization initiatives.

The formation of this maintenance partnership underscores the growing emphasis on establishing robust support infrastructure for India's next-generation rail fleet.
