Bhopal's health department has escalated its response to dengue transmission following the accumulation of over 150 confirmed cases in 2026. The surge has prompted officials to deploy additional resources toward mosquito surveillance and elimination programmes across the city.
Authorities have initiated targeted spraying operations in high-risk zones and are focusing on identifying and clearing breeding grounds where Aedes mosquitoes proliferate. Stagnant water sources, discarded containers, and poorly maintained drainage systems have been identified as priority intervention areas.
Simultaneously, the health department has launched public education campaigns to encourage residents to adopt preventive measures. Citizens are being advised to eliminate standing water around their homes, use mosquito nets, and seek immediate medical attention if fever symptoms develop.
The dengue cases underscore seasonal vulnerabilities typical to Bhopal during monsoon and post-monsoon months. Health officials have urged the public to maintain vigilance and report suspected cases promptly to enable swift isolation and treatment protocols.
