Bicol police deploy surveillance cameras ahead of Peñafrancia Festival

LEGAZPI CITY — Law enforcement authorities in Bicol have ramped up security measures for the forthcoming Peñafrancia Festival by deploying 13 pan-tilt-zoom cameras across Naga City's most critical areas.

The surveillance equipment has been strategically positioned outside the perimeter of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Naga City and throughout Plaza Rizal, two of the festival's principal gathering points for participants and devotees.

The move reflects police efforts to manage crowds and maintain public order during the religious celebration, which draws pilgrims from across the region and beyond. The pan-tilt-zoom cameras allow operators to monitor large areas with enhanced visibility and zoom capabilities, enabling better oversight of the gathering sites.

The Bicol Regional Police Office 5 has indicated that the enhanced surveillance infrastructure will support their personnel already deployed in the area to provide security and assistance throughout the festival period. The initiative underscores the authorities' commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly celebration for all participants.
