The Bihar cabinet has approved an MOU between the state's Water Resources Department and the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) in Roorkee to conduct a detailed flood plain zone delineation study. The initiative aims to identify and map flood-prone areas across the state, providing critical data for future flood management and urban planning strategies.
In addition to the flood study approval, the cabinet cleared land allocations for industrial expansion in the state. A total of 115 acres have been approved for a sugar mill project, while 151.58 acres have been allocated for other industrial ventures. These land approvals are part of Bihar's broader push to attract manufacturing and agro-processing investments.
The cabinet also sanctioned ₹12 crore for the organization of Bihar State Games 2026, underlining the government's commitment to promoting sports infrastructure and athletic development across the state. The games are expected to boost sporting talent and infrastructure in the region.
In a bid to enhance urban mobility, the cabinet granted approval for an underground road corridor project in Patna. The project is expected to ease traffic congestion in the state capital and improve connectivity between key areas. These decisions collectively signal the state government's focus on balancing disaster management, economic development, and infrastructure modernization.
