Bihar delimitation must precede next panchayat polls: Deputy CM

Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has clarified that the next round of panchayat elections in the state will only be held after a comprehensive delimitation exercise is completed. Addressing three-tier panchayat representatives, Choudhary outlined the state's commitment to improving grassroots governance structures through proper administrative reorganisation.

The delimitation process is expected to redraw panchayat boundaries to ensure equitable representation based on current population distributions. Officials have been directed to establish individual panchayats for populations of approximately 7,500 residents each, bringing administrative units more in line with demographic realities across rural Bihar.

Choudhary urged panchayat representatives to actively participate in planning village infrastructure improvements and submit recommendations for developmental projects in their respective areas. The government's emphasis on strengthening the three-tier panchayat system reflects efforts to enhance rural governance and ensure more effective delivery of public services at the grassroots level.

The delimitation exercise is seen as a necessary step to address existing administrative imbalances and improve the efficiency of local self-governance institutions across the state's villages and towns.
