Neeraj Kumar of Bihar established the sacred pot, or kalash, on his chest on the first day of the Sharadiya Navratri festival, initiating what he describes as a rare form of worship. The practice has continued throughout the festival period, according to Kumar's account.
Kumar attributes his decision to undertake this austere vow to what he believes are the goddess's blessings in his life. He states that Mata Rani, the divine mother, has fulfilled his prayers and wishes in the past, prompting him to make this five-year commitment.
As part of his pledge, Kumar has resolved to place the kalash on his chest during every Sharadiya Navratri celebration over the next five years. The practice represents an unconventional form of spiritual discipline and devotion during the nine-day festival dedicated to goddess Durga and her various manifestations.
The Sharadiya Navratri, observed during the autumn season, is one of the most significant festivals in the Hindu calendar and draws millions of devotees engaged in various forms of worship and spiritual practice across India.
