Bihar Government Fast-Tracks Teacher Recruitment Ahead of Student Protests
Bihar's Public Service Commission has announced recruitment for over 32,000 teaching positions, with applications opening September 1. The move comes amid student agitation over delayed hiring in the state.

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has issued a notification for recruitment to 32,388 teacher positions, signaling swift action on a key demand from student activists who have been pressing the state government for faster hiring.
Applications for the teaching posts will commence on September 1, according to the notification. The recruitment announcement appears timed to address mounting pressure from protesting students, including those who staged a sit-in at Gardanibagh in Patna.
Student organizations have characterized the teacher recruitment as an important first step but cautioned they will continue monitoring other outstanding demands. These include conducting examinations in a single phase format and removing weightage given to contractual teaching experience in the selection process.
The BPSC recruitment drive represents one of the largest teacher hiring exercises in Bihar in recent years. However, activists have indicated they will maintain pressure on the government until all their demands are addressed, including structural reforms in the examination and appointment process.
