Bihar government will answer for youth suppression, says Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday levelled serious charges against the Bihar government, accusing police of deploying excessive force against student demonstrators. After meeting with youth activists in the state, Gandhi alleged that Bihar police had resorted to what he described as "horrific brutality," including the use of lathis and firearms against student protesters.

Gandhi warned that governments which suppress youth aspirations and democratic expression would ultimately be held accountable by the people. He emphasised that student protests represent legitimate democratic participation and cannot be met with violent suppression.

The Congress leader's comments come amid growing concerns about police tactics used to disperse student-led demonstrations across Bihar in recent weeks. Gandhi's remarks are part of the opposition's broader criticism of state and central government handling of public dissent and student activism.
