Polling for eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council passed off peacefully on Tuesday, with authorities reporting no significant disturbances despite scattered complaints and celebratory activities.
Police officials stated that voting proceeded without untoward incidents across constituencies. However, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) filed allegations of police harassment targeting its candidate for the Patna Teachers' seat, claiming obstruction during the electoral process.
In a separate development, firecrackers were burst outside the residence of JD(U) MLA Anant Singh in what appeared to be celebrations for Jan Suraaj Party's candidate Anuj Kumar Singh. The celebrations underscored the competitive nature of the contest across the state.
The eight contested seats represent a significant fixture in Bihar's political calendar. Election officials are now preparing for the counting process, which is scheduled to take place on October 27, when results will determine the composition of the state's upper house.
