A man has been arrested in Samastipur district of Bihar on suspicion of murdering his father, with investigators claiming the crime was inspired by the plot of the Hindi film 'Drishyam' starring Ajay Devgn.
The accused allegedly travelled approximately 2,000 kilometres from Surat, Gujarat to his village and attacked his father, Raghubir Sahni, who was sleeping outside their home. Police say the suspect used an axe to carry out the killing.
The case has drawn comparisons to the Hindi thriller 'Drishyam', which centres on a man who commits a crime and then devises an elaborate cover-up. Investigators are examining whether the suspect studied the film's narrative before planning the alleged murder.
The arrest marks the latest in a series of cases across India where criminal activities have been linked to inspiration drawn from popular films. Police have registered a murder case and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
