Bihar MP Distributes Cash to Flood-Hit Women in Eastern District

Pappu Yadav, the Member of Parliament from Purnia, travelled to Kursela in Katihar district to assess the situation in Bihar's ongoing flood crisis. During his visit, the MP distributed Rs 500 to hundreds of flood-affected women, continuing to hand out cash even as he departed the affected area, moving through assembled crowds to ensure widespread distribution of relief funds.
Yadav used the occasion to launch a scathing critique of the state administration and local authorities. He accused government officials, political leadership, contractors and administrative staff of negligence and mismanagement in addressing the disaster and its aftermath. The MP called for a formal investigation into flood-related works and expenditures, suggesting financial irregularities in relief and infrastructure projects.
The visit highlights the scale of displacement caused by recent flooding in the region, which has forced thousands from their homes across eastern Bihar. Katihar district, located in the flood-prone eastern belt of the state, has faced repeated inundation during the monsoon season in recent years. Yadav's direct cash distribution represents an attempt to provide immediate relief to vulnerable sections affected by the disaster.
