Bihar police recover human head in canal; mother arrested in teen's death

Authorities in Banka district have recovered a human head from the Badua reservoir canal, marking a significant development in the investigation into the death of 16-year-old Priya Kumari. The discovery comes five days after initial body parts were found in the waterway.

Previously, police had recovered seven fragments and a hand from the canal. Investigators believe these remains belong to the teenage girl, whose decomposed state has made visual identification impossible. A DNA report is expected to confirm the identity definitively.

The girl's mother has been arrested and is in police custody on charges of murder. Investigators are continuing search operations to locate the girl's father and maternal uncle, who are also suspected of involvement in the case. Police have not disclosed the alleged motive behind the crime.

The recovery of remains from the canal has intensified the investigation, with forensic teams working to piece together evidence. Officials said the DNA analysis would provide conclusive confirmation and help establish the exact circumstances surrounding the teenager's death.
