Bihar truck crash sparks liquor looting spree; police launch probe

A mini-truck collided with a road divider in Bihar on Wednesday, triggering a chaotic scene as bystanders descended upon the damaged vehicle to loot liquor bottles from its cargo. The driver abandoned the truck and fled the scene following the accident.

Local authorities responded to reports of the incident but faced challenges in controlling the crowd that had already begun ransacking the truck's contents. Officers reported that a substantial quantity of liquor bottles were removed from the vehicle during the melee.

Bihar Police have launched an investigation into the incident, with officers scrutinizing CCTV camera footage from the area and video clips circulated on social media platforms to identify individuals involved in the looting. Investigators plan to use this evidence to file cases against those responsible and recover the stolen liquor bottles.

The incident highlights ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in Bihar regarding quick response times to accidents and maintaining order at crash sites. Police have appealed to the public for information regarding the driver and those who participated in the looting.
