BITS Pilani has unveiled an expansive scholarship programme designed to make quality education accessible to talented students from lower-income households. The initiative will extend full financial support to 1,000 top performers in the BITSAT (BITS Admission Test) entrance examination, starting from the academic year 2027.

According to Group Vice Chancellor V Ramgopal Rao, the scheme targets eligible students whose annual family income does not exceed Rs 20 lakh. The announcement underscores the institution's commitment to fostering merit-based accessibility and reducing financial barriers to higher education.

The full scholarship will cover tuition fees and other academic expenses for selected candidates, enabling them to pursue undergraduate programmes at BITS Pilani's multiple campuses without financial constraint. The initiative is expected to benefit a significant cohort of high-achieving students from middle and lower-middle class families across India.

BITS Pilani, one of India's premier private engineering and science institutions, has historically maintained a competitive admissions process. This scholarship programme represents a deliberate effort to diversify the student body and ensure that financial circumstances do not hinder exceptional talent from accessing the institution's educational offerings.
