BJMP denies power cuts, Romualdez movement at QC detention facility

MANILA — The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology has rejected claims of security breaches at a Quezon City detention facility, stating that preliminary analysis of CCTV footage uncovered no power interruptions or surveillance system failures.

In a statement following the allegations, BJMP National Headquarters said the security review conducted on November 3 revealed no recorded incidents of electrical outages or camera malfunctions at the facility.

The agency also denied reports that former House Speaker Martin Romualdez had moved outside his designated area within the jail complex. According to the BJMP's findings, no unauthorized movement of the detained official was captured on the available footage.

The denials address concerns raised about potential irregularities in detention protocols and security procedures at the facility. The BJMP has not yet announced whether additional investigations into the allegations will be conducted.
