At a public rally in Dehradun, Shah expressed confidence that the BJP would secure another decisive mandate to form the government in Uttarakhand. The party's electoral target of 65 seats in the 70-member assembly underscores its ambitions to consolidate its political dominance in the hill state.
Shah's remarks come as the BJP ramps up campaigning ahead of the state assembly elections. The Home Minister sought to reinforce the party's performance record in Uttarakhand, where it has held power since 2017, and contrast its governance with opposition parties.
The senior BJP leader also called for the concerns and aspirations of Uttarakhand's people to be heard by the opposition Congress party, particularly its leadership. His comments appeared aimed at framing the election as a choice between the BJP's development agenda and the opposition's approach to governance.
The assembly elections in Uttarakhand are expected to be keenly contested, with the Congress party also mobilizing its resources to regain ground it has lost in previous electoral cycles. The state has historically been a significant political battleground in India's hill regions.
