BJP appoints senior leaders as in-charges for poll-bound states

The BJP has appointed Rajya Sabha MP Vinod Tawde as in-charge of party affairs in Uttar Pradesh, with newly appointed national secretary Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel as co-in-charge. The moves were announced in a party notification on Tuesday following a restructuring of the party's senior management.

Rajya Sabha MP Satish Poonia, recently elevated to national general secretary, has been named in-charge of Punjab affairs, while Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh has been assigned responsibility for Gujarat. The party said all appointments would take effect immediately, with other state in-charges to be announced subsequently.

"The current Prabhari arrangement will continue in the interim," the BJP stated in an official circular. Party sources attributed the reshuffle to the upcoming assembly elections, with polls scheduled for Punjab and Uttar Pradesh in early 2025 and Gujarat later in 2027.

The appointments mark the latest step in the BJP's broader reorganization of its national leadership structure, signaling the party's focus on electoral preparations across key states.
