BJP Claims Political Collusion in Kerala Rail Payoff Investigation Delay
A senior BJP leader has alleged that a delay in filing a police case related to a CMRL payoff matter suggests a coordinated effort among opposition leaders to compromise the investigation. The allegations come despite reported guidance from the Attorney General to proceed with the case.

BJP national executive member P.K. Krishnadas has accused the CPI(M) and Congress of orchestrating a behind-the-scenes arrangement to obstruct a police investigation into a Cochin Metro Rail Limited payoff case. Krishnadas cited the prolonged delay in filing formal charges as evidence of what he characterised as a political 'deal' among senior opposition figures.
According to Krishnadas, the Attorney General had previously advised authorities to file the case, yet no action was taken despite this legal guidance. The BJP leader specifically named Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and CPI(M) figure M.A. Baby as parties to the alleged agreement, claiming they sought to undermine the investigation's credibility and scope.
The allegations have intensified scrutiny around the CMRL matter, which has remained contentious in Kerala's political sphere. The delay in filing the case has drawn criticism from multiple quarters, with observers questioning whether procedural lapses reflect institutional dysfunction or deliberate obstruction.
Neither the Congress nor the CPI(M) has issued immediate responses to Krishnadas's allegations. The matter is likely to intensify political tensions in the state as multiple parties position themselves ahead of forthcoming elections.
