BJP dismisses opposition protest as 'failed show', hails democracy's resilience
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party claimed Saturday that an opposition-led demonstration in Delhi aimed at disrupting the capital failed to gain traction. Party spokesperson Sambit Patra said the event demonstrated the strength of democratic institutions over what he termed 'mob rule.'

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra dismissed a protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday as a 'flop show,' asserting that attempts to hold New Delhi hostage had proven unsuccessful. Speaking at the party headquarters, Patra characterised the demonstration as reflective of broader efforts to destabilise the nation, alleging coordination with foreign interests.
Hundreds of youth activists and opposition politicians were detained by police at the protest site. Patra framed the police response as evidence of democracy's victory over what he called 'mobocracy,' contending that India remained on a path of stable governance and forward progress.
The BJP leader also attacked Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, using the Hindi term 'nalayak' to describe him as an incompetent leader. Patra criticised Gandhi's Friday statement regarding President Droupadi Murmu's response to opposition allegations of electoral irregularities, claiming such remarks reflected attempts to create discord.
'What unfolds at protest sites and circulates on television and social media does not represent India's true character,' Patra said. 'India is peaceful and progressing under sound governance,' he added, dismissing the opposition narrative as disconnected from ground realities.
