A confrontation during voting for the Teacher-Graduate MLC election in Khekra, Bagpat district, has drawn attention to election day protocol enforcement. BJP district president Neeraj Sharma was prevented from entering the polling booth by election officials, leading to a heated exchange between party workers and poll administrators.
Following the incident, senior BJP leaders staged a protest outside the polling station, demanding action against Chandra Officer (CO) Rohan Chaurasia. The protesters called for either suspension or a formal apology from the official responsible for the restriction.
As tensions mounted, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Praveen Kumar Chauhan arrived at the scene to defuse the situation. In a conciliatory gesture, the ASP publicly apologized to Sharma in front of the assembled party leaders, citing adherence to established polling regulations.
The apology effectively ended the protest, allowing the election process to resume without further disruption. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between political leaders and election officials over booth access protocols during voting.
