BJP dominates Rajasthan municipal polls, secures 204 boards

The BJP's commanding performance in Rajasthan's civic body elections has exceeded expectations, particularly in areas that have historically presented electoral challenges for the saffron party. The party's control over 204 municipal boards and corporations across the state represents a decisive victory in the local governance contests.

The BJP's gains have been especially pronounced in the tribal-dominated districts of Banswara, Dungarpur, and Pratapgarh in eastern Rajasthan. Across nine urban local bodies in this region, the BJP has established decisive control, marking a significant shift in voter preferences in areas where the party had previously struggled to establish strong ground support.

The Congress party, which has traditionally held considerable sway in Rajasthan, finished a distant second with 96 boards under its control. The results suggest a broader consolidation of BJP support across urban centres in the state, spanning both metropolitan areas and smaller municipal corporations.

The municipal elections reflect voter sentiment ahead of state and national political contests. The BJP's performance in tribal areas, in particular, may signal changing political dynamics in regions that have long been viewed as strategic battlegrounds for both major national parties seeking electoral advantage.
