Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has leveled charges of hypocrisy against the Congress party, asserting that the opposition applies double standards in evaluating the Special Internal Report (SIR) process based on whether the party wins or loses elections in different states.
Speaking in Narasimhpur, Yadav claimed Congress considers the SIR procedure legitimate when it results in favorable outcomes for the party but questions its validity when results are unfavorable. The chief minister demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in connection with the dispute.
Yadav's remarks targeted Congress's protest demonstrations against the election process and directed criticism at the leadership of the Nehru-Gandhi family's political role. The statement reflects ongoing tensions between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress party over electoral processes and institutional accountability.
The controversy centers on how different political parties have responded to the SIR mechanism across recent elections in various Indian states, with competing interpretations of its legitimacy and application.
