BJP leader urges action against foreign actor over protest participation

A prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionary has formally approached the Mumbai Police Commissioner with a plea to detain and deport a foreign national actor, citing the individual's involvement in what he characterized as an illegal political protest.

Kirit Somaiya, the BJP leader, has sought action against the actor for allegedly participating in an unauthorized political agitation. In his communication to police authorities, Somaiya has recommended that charges be filed under relevant legal provisions related to unlawful assembly and political demonstrations.

The development comes amid heightened political sensitivities surrounding foreign nationals' participation in domestic protests and activism in India. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between different political factions regarding the scope and nature of permissible public dissent, particularly when foreign citizens are involved in such activities.

The Mumbai Police have not yet issued a formal response to Somaiya's representation. The matter raises questions about the legal status of foreign nationals engaging in political activities on Indian soil and the regulatory framework governing such participation.
