Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi has urged the government to engage with student protesters through constructive dialogue instead of resorting to force, signalling concern over handling of campus unrest across the country.
Joshi emphasised that legitimate student concerns deserve serious attention from policymakers and institutional authorities. His statement reflects growing unease within political circles over the methods used to manage student demonstrations and activism on educational campuses.
The senior leader also raised constitutional alarm, suggesting that if violations of constitutional provisions have occurred during any crackdown or administrative action, the matter warrants intervention by the Supreme Court. He stressed that constitutional safeguards cannot be compromised in addressing student dissent.
Joshi's position underscores a broader debate within Indian politics regarding the balance between maintaining order on campuses and protecting citizens' constitutional rights to peaceful assembly and expression. His remarks come amid heightened tension between student groups and authorities in various educational institutions across India.
