BJP makes strong gains in Bengal bypolls, breaks into Rejinagar

The BJP has marked a significant electoral breakthrough in West Bengal by winning bypolls across multiple constituencies, with particularly impressive gains in traditionally challenging areas. The party's performance represents a notable shift in the state's political landscape, where the saffron party has steadily expanded its footprint.

In Rejinagar, a Muslim-majority constituency where the BJP has historically struggled, the party achieved a dramatic surge in electoral support. The party's vote share climbed to 63 per cent from approximately 27 per cent in the previous election cycle, demonstrating substantial gains among voters in the region.

The BJP also consolidated its position in Nandigram, retaining the seat with an enhanced mandate. The party's vote share in the constituency jumped to 76 per cent from nearly 50 per cent previously, underscoring its strengthened grip on the area.

The bypolls represent a significant indicator of shifting voter preferences in West Bengal, traditionally dominated by other political formations. The BJP's success, particularly in constituencies with diverse demographic compositions, suggests the party's expanding appeal across various voter segments in the state.
