BJP marks five months in Bihar power with infrastructure push

Five months into governance in Bihar, the NDA administration is banking on infrastructure projects to demonstrate its stewardship, according to senior BJP parliamentarian Ravishhankar Prasad.
Prasad noted that Bihar was the last major Hindi-speaking state where the BJP had not previously held the Chief Minister's post, making the current administration a significant political milestone for the party. He credited the sustained relationship with ally Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar, spanning two decades, and their joint efforts against lawlessness as foundational to the coalition's success.
The government has focused on several key projects during its initial months, including upgrades to Patna Airport, expansion of Vande Bharat train services, the Atal Path road infrastructure initiative, and construction of bridges across the Ganges river. Prasad also highlighted flood relief and rehabilitation operations as priorities in the state, which faces recurring monsoon challenges.
The BJP-JDU coalition, which assumed office earlier this year, is seeking to consolidate its position ahead of state and national elections, with infrastructure development emerging as a central theme in its governance narrative.
