The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced its poll management structure for upcoming Assembly elections, designating senior national leaders to coordinate campaigns across three politically significant states. Vinod Tawde, a Lok Sabha member and national general secretary of the party, will serve as the election in-charge for Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state and a crucial battleground in national politics.
Satish Poonia, also holding the rank of national general secretary and Lok Sabha member, has been entrusted with overseeing the party's electoral operations in Punjab. The appointment underscores the BJP's push to expand its presence in the northern state, where it has traditionally faced stiff competition from regional parties and the Congress.
Tarun Chug, a Lok Sabha member, will lead the party's election machinery in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a BJP stronghold where the party has held government since 1995. These senior-level appointments reflect the party's emphasis on maintaining its organizational grip across these strategically important regions as it prepares for the Assembly contests.
