BJP secures Kota municipal polls victory amid technical voting glitches

The Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged victorious in the Kota municipal corporation elections, capturing a clear majority of seats in the civic body poll. However, technical irregularities have necessitated adjustments to the election timeline, with organisers postponing the chairperson selection process pending resolution of outstanding voting issues.

Technical malfunctions affecting electronic voting machines in certain wards have prompted the State Election Commission to order re-polling in the affected booths. These glitches prevented normal voting procedures in those locations during the initial polling phase, raising concerns about the integrity of results in those specific areas.

Authorities have scheduled fresh voting in the affected booths for September 16, allowing voters who were unable to cast ballots during the initial election to participate. The rescheduled counting of all votes, including those from the fresh polling, is slated for September 17, officials confirmed.

Once the final tally is completed following the re-polling exercise, the BJP is expected to proceed with the election of its chairperson for the municipal corporation. The technical delays represent a brief setback in the otherwise smoothly executed civic body elections in Rajasthan's Kota district.
