BJP secures Meerut seats as UP MLC polls counting continues across state

BJP candidates have won both the Meerut graduates and Meerut teachers constituencies in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections, marking early gains for the ruling party in the state assembly segment polls.

Election officials have commenced the counting process across multiple constituencies spanning seven major urban centres. Vote tabulation is proceeding simultaneously in Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, Jhansi, Bareilly and Gorakhpur as part of the staggered counting schedule for the MLC elections across the state.

The Meerut results provide initial momentum for the BJP in the graduates and teachers categories, which comprise a distinct electoral segment within Uttar Pradesh's upper house election process. These constituencies have historically attracted significant interest given the concentrated voter base among educational professionals and degree-holders.

Full results are expected to emerge as counting progresses throughout the day across the remaining constituencies. The final tally will determine the overall composition of the newly elected members to the state Legislative Council, with results from the other counting centres still pending.
