Counting of votes for Bihar's eight vacant Legislative Council seats is underway, with the BJP securing one seat in the initial results announced from counting centres. Seven seats remain to be decided as the process continues across multiple constituencies.
The Patna graduate constituency has drawn particular attention from political observers, with Janata Dal (United) candidate Neeraj Kumar trailing in early counting rounds. The seat had been designated as a significant contest in the run-up to the elections, partly due to the high-profile boycott by Mokama MLA Anant Singh.
The eight vacant seats in the Bihar Legislative Council represent one of several rounds of elections held for the 243-member upper house of the state legislature. Results from the remaining constituencies are expected to clarify the overall picture as vote tallying progresses throughout the day.
