BJP stages ritual protest against Rahul Gandhi amid political tensions

Members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a symbolic protest on Tuesday, conducting traditional 'pind daan' and 'tarpan' rituals—funeral rites typically performed for the deceased—in memory of former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

The demonstration, led by BJP city chief Dayashankar Tiwari, represented an escalation in the war of words between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition Congress party. The BJP has accused Rahul Gandhi of fostering discord and spreading what it characterizes as anarchist sentiment through his public statements and political activism.

The Congress party has countered the allegations, describing Gandhi as a champion of ordinary citizens' rights and concerns. Party supporters argue that his vocal criticism of government policies reflects the aspirations and grievances of the common people rather than any intent to destabilize the nation.

The political confrontation underscores the deepening polarization between the two parties as both gear up for electoral contests, with symbolic gestures and rhetorical exchanges becoming increasingly common components of their political engagement.
