BJP to roll out Uniform Civil Code across 21 states by 2029

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday declared that the BJP-led NDA governments will introduce a Uniform Civil Code across 21 states before 2029, reinforcing the government's commitment to legislative reform. Shah made the announcement while addressing a press conference in the capital to unveil 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', a month-long campaign running from September 17 to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday and 25 years of his political tenure in Gujarat and at the Centre.

Speaking to journalists, Shah credited the Modi government with ushering in what he termed a new era of "politics of performance", asserting that the administration has moved India away from corruption, casteism and dynastic politics—challenges he said plagued Indian politics prior to 2014. The Home Minister characterized Modi's time in office as marked by transformative achievements, positioning India as a rising global force in security and economic strength.

The 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', under the slogan "Jan Seva Hi Prabhu Seva" (Public service is divine service), aims to mobilize public participation in the government's goal of making India a fully developed nation by 2047. Shah emphasized that the campaign would bridge citizens with government schemes and development initiatives, seeking to consolidate grassroots support for the administration's policy agenda across NDA-governed states.
