BJP will sweep 2028 elections, says party vice president targeting Telangana government

BJP national vice president Ram Madhav has expressed confidence in the party's prospects for the 2028 elections in Telangana, launching a fresh attack on the Congress government's record in the state. Madhav's remarks signal the BJP's intent to consolidate its political position ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Defending recent electoral roll revisions undertaken in the state, Madhav characterized such administrative exercises as routine procedures that have been conducted periodically since India's independence. Electoral roll updates are typically carried out to reflect demographic changes, removals due to death or relocation, and additions of newly eligible voters.

The BJP leader's comments come as the party continues to expand its organizational footprint across Telangana following the Congress government's formation in December 2023. Political observers have noted the BJP's growing assertiveness in the southern state, where it has steadily increased its electoral presence over recent years.

Telangana witnessed significant political realignment in recent state elections, with the Congress displacing the Telangana Rashtra Samithi from power. As the state looks ahead to the next election cycle, both major national parties are positioning themselves for an intensified campaign.
