A black cobra was discovered coiled inside the toilet commode of a residential property in Akola district, Maharashtra, prompting an emergency wildlife response. The snake had entered the bathroom fixture, creating a hazardous situation for household members.
Wildlife warden Bal Kalne arrived at the scene to handle the extraction. Using a plastic pipe as a makeshift tool, Kalne carefully maneuvered the cobra out of the confined space without injuring the reptile. The operation demonstrated the importance of professional wildlife intervention in such situations.
Black cobras, highly venomous snakes native to the Indian subcontinent, occasionally venture into human habitats, particularly during monsoon seasons when water levels rise and their natural habitats become flooded. Bathroom and water-adjacent spaces in homes can attract snakes seeking moisture and shelter.
Once extracted, the cobra was safely relocated to an appropriate natural habitat away from human settlements. Wildlife officials in Maharashtra continue to urge residents to seal potential entry points in homes and contact trained professionals rather than attempting independent snake removal, which carries significant risk of snakebite injuries.
