Blanket-Cloaked Thief Fails to Breach Bank Vault in UP

A brazen but ultimately unsuccessful theft attempt was foiled at a Sarv UP Gramin Bank branch in Bijnor district on Wednesday night. Security footage shows an unidentified burglar entering the premises after draping himself in a blanket, apparently to avoid detection by surveillance cameras.

The intruder managed to sever the bank's electricity supply before gaining entry to the building. He then made his way to the strong room and attempted to force open the main lock, demonstrating knowledge of the facility's layout.

However, the thief's plans unraveled when he encountered further resistance from an interior safe or cabinet, which he was unable to breach. Faced with the security obstacle and the risk of prolonged exposure, the burglar abandoned the attempt and fled the premises without securing any cash or valuables.

Bijnor police have registered a case and launched an investigation based on closed-circuit television footage of the incident. Authorities are reviewing the CCTV recordings to identify the perpetrator and determine whether the theft was part of an organized operation or a lone attempt. Bank officials said they are coordinating with law enforcement to enhance security measures at the branch.
