Blinkit Ambulance is implementing a ₹2,500 charge for non-emergency patient transfers as part of efforts to curb misuse of its medical transportation service. The platform said emergency ambulance services will continue to operate at no cost to users.
The move comes as the Blinkit Ambulance service, launched to provide rapid medical response capabilities in select Indian cities, seeks to better manage demand and ensure resources are available for genuine emergencies. By introducing the fee structure, the company aims to distinguish between critical situations requiring immediate intervention and routine non-emergency medical transfers.
Under the revised model, patients requiring urgent emergency care will continue to access ambulances without charges. However, those seeking non-emergency transfers—such as routine hospital visits or planned medical procedures—will be required to pay the stipulated fee.
The initiative reflects broader challenges faced by emergency response platforms in managing resource allocation amid varying demand patterns. Several medical service providers across India have explored similar fee structures to balance accessibility with operational sustainability and ensure rapid response times for genuine emergencies.
