MANILA — The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee (BRC) will pass the recantation of former Marine Orly Guteza to the Office of the Ombudsman for further action, committee chair Sen. Erwin Tulfo announced Thursday.

Tulfo indicated that while the panel continues its investigation into flood control issues, matters involving Guteza's recantation fall outside the committee's immediate purview and would be better handled by the Ombudsman's office.

The move reflects the committee's decision to streamline its efforts by referring cases involving potential administrative or legal violations to the appropriate government agency. The Ombudsman's office is tasked with investigating cases of wrongdoing among public officials and employees.

The senator did not provide additional details regarding the nature of Guteza's recantation or the timeline for the referral. The Blue Ribbon Committee will continue focusing on its ongoing investigation into flood control measures and related matters.
