BN confident of contesting Melaka polls without PN support

Barisan Nasional has dismissed concerns that the suspension of Perikatan Nasional would hamper its ability to contest the upcoming Melaka state election, with coalition leaders expressing confidence in their capacity to campaign alone.
MIC deputy president M Saravanan said BN possesses sufficient organisational strength and grassroots support to mount a successful campaign without PN participation. "BN is capable of contesting the Melaka polls on its own," Saravanan said, pointing to the coalition's solid performances in recent state-level contests.
The coalition's confidence appears grounded in its recent electoral showings. BN has demonstrated resurgent support in consecutive state elections held in Negeri Sembilan and Johor, suggesting momentum that could translate to the Melaka campaign.
The PN suspension comes amid ongoing political realignments in Malaysia's complex coalition landscape. BN, which comprises parties including Umno, MIC, and MCA, has been repositioning itself as an independent political force following recent electoral gains.
