BN keeps door open to PH despite Melaka election pact rejection

The Barisan Nasional coalition has indicated it will not close the door on future cooperation with Pakatan Harapan, despite the opposition bloc's rejection of a proposed electoral pact for the upcoming Melaka state election.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stressed that while BN cannot force its political opponents to agree to an alliance, the governing coalition remains open to discussions and negotiations with PH on potential collaboration.
The statement comes after Pakatan Harapan declined BN's offer to contest the Melaka polls under a joint electoral arrangement. Sources indicated PH leadership determined that fighting the state election independently would better serve the coalition's political interests.
