BN pledges exco positions to PN if Melaka election victory secured

Umno president Zahid Hamidi confirmed that Barisan Nasional would allocate exco positions to its Perikatan Nasional partners in the event of an electoral victory in Melaka, signalling the strength of the ruling coalition's partnership ahead of the state polls.

The BN chairman's statement reflects efforts to solidify the working relationship between the two coalitions, which have collaborated at federal level following the 2022 general election. The power-sharing arrangement underscores attempts to present a united front in the contest for control of the southern state.

Acknowledging friction within the coalition machinery, Zahid noted that BN and PN leaders would undertake refinements to streamline operations at all organisational levels. The BN chief indicated that some "issues" had surfaced among party workers and supporters at the grassroots, necessitating improvements to workflow and coordination between the allied parties.

The commitment to address internal challenges reflects recognition that smooth coordination between multiple political entities is essential for effective campaigning and governance. By outlining concrete arrangements regarding executive positions, BN aims to demonstrate good faith and maintain partner confidence heading into the election.
